Kololo Game Reserve is situated 30 km away from Vaalwater, bordering the malaria-free Big 5 Welgevonden Game Reserve. It features a swimming pool, free WiFi and a restaurant with views of the reserve.

A range of different accommodation types are featured, ranging from a chalet including a fully equipped kitchenette and an open plan living area to villa with a private deck and plunge pool.

Kololo’s Restaurant provides an à la carte menu and features a pool, a bar area and a fireplace with viewing decks overlooking the Big 5 reserve. Guests are regularly treated to a breakfast or dinner served out in the bush.

For guests reserving their stay on a Dinner, Bed and Breakfast rate, one activity is offered per overnight stay and these guests can choose from various day or night game drives in an open 4x4 game vehicle upon request and guided bush walks. The private gate near the reception offers direct access into Welgevonden Game Reserve. Guests can also explore the Waterberg on horseback at one of the neighbouring properties.

    The location was terrific for safari (guided) into Welgevonden. Accommodation very convenient with outdoor kitchen and comfy bed. Staff is friendly and willing to explain everything from surroundings and culture. Food is delicious and plenty. Glad we stayed 2 nights!

    Lovely location and game drives … remember the game drives are an extra ZAR 520 per person per drive so for a family this adds on quite a lot to the bill. Lovely atmosphere . Ate once at the restaurant and the food was good. Enjoyed the game drives and the cycle rides on Kololo. Very peaceful and very close to Welgevonden where they take you for game drives which you pay extra for. A variety of accommodation which is nice ! Oom Piet is rustic, but lovely for a family …. Sunny and a nice stoep and view of the lawn. Lovely Nyala that walks around the area.

    I stayed in a 2 persons cabin, it had an outdoor kitchen, a porch and the bed was great. I booked the b&b option to it, so my stay included breakfast and dinner and everything Cheff Jeff and his staff created was delicious. I went on 2 game drives and I can only say, wow! You can see the big 5 if you are lucky, I just saw 2 out of 5, but it was still great. Thank you to all the staff of this amazing place!

    Staying in the Fish Eagle chalet was private and much more than we expected! We loved that our unit was self-contained. Our game drive was amazing too.

    Our stay at Kololo was an unexpected delight thanks to excellent accommodation, great food, and friendly, helpful staff. Our game drives into the adjacent Welgevonden Nature Reserve were exceptional with plenty of sightings of rhinoceros, zebra, wildebeest, kudu, blesbok, springbok, impala, warthog, jackal and elephant. We were exceptionally lucky to see a leopard and an aardvark and we watched in awe as a pair of lions stalked and ultimately killed a zebra.

    The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the chef was excellent! He came out to talk to us about the food and how he was going to prepare it, our ranger/guide Prince was very knowledgeable - we learnt a lot from him. Overall, Kololo scores the highest points one can give. Excellent!

    We really liked the friendly staff , and the food which was excellent . The dinner and the breakfast was top class in a very beautiful restaurant . The Ranger Andrew was very knowledgeable . We saw Lion and Rhino , but unfortunately the Leopard , Elephant and Buffalo avoided us .
