    We were there for a Scottish Opera performance at St Mary's Kirk, which is just across the road. Haddington itself is a charming country town of antiquarian interest with some fine restaurants and good bus connections. The hotel is not over-modernised and quite attentive.

    No Toast with Scambled egg and took a while to come. Then no butter. The Hotel Manager was very nice helpful and friendly. Put our bikes safely away. Suggested where to eat as no food available there that eveningSeemed odd though that was big bag of rubbish on the stairs by bedroom.

    One of the rooms has a pile of dirty towels on the bathroom floor from previous guests. Very dated and run down looking

    The hotel needs renewed finishes - it looks and feels tired especially inside. Lovely grounds. Nice breakfast.

    The food was really good. Generous portions and cooked well. The small group of staff were very friendly and welcoming. The cleanliness overall was excellent.
