    The most welcoming owner and staff who were so helpful and friendly. Nothing at all was too much trouble for them. A very personal service from them. Great location with lots of bars and restaurants near by. Easy access to all of Rio with Uber who were very cheap compared to UK prices . Charming colonial style mansion with an eclectic array of furnishings. Very chilled atmosphere to return home to each day. Fabulous views over the bay from the room we had. We absolutely loved our stay and would stay again.

    The outdoor area with the pool and the view from the garden as well as the balcony upstairs and the big room are very beautiful. The staff was friendly and helpful.

    We stayed at Mama Ruisa at both ends of the trip. The place is a delight. St Theresa is a great area to be in, away from the hustle and bustle of the centro or the beaches but easy to get to by tram. The boutique hotel is colonial in style and the rooms we stayed in were exquisite. Above all the staff were engaging, friendly and willing to offer advice and guidance on everything. Special thanks to Valeria and Remy our hosts and to Rafael and all the other staff for making our trip so memorable

    Valeria and the rest of the team were so friendly and helpful. They very kindly accommodated my request for champagne and roses in the room upon arrival for our 20th Wedding anniversary and were a wealth of knowledge and recommendations in both the local area and Rio more broadly. The room and house were beautiful and we loved breakfast on the private terrace with accompanying birdsong and marmosets. Would recommend without reservation to anyone :)

    Mama Ruisa was the most beautiful hotel I had ever stayed in, and everything exceeded my exceptions! The space was immaculate with an incredible collection of furniture. Location was also great, couldn't have asked for more! Wish I had more time in Rio to enjoy the hotel and the pool.

    This is one of those old grandeur houses, with artsy decor, in the hills of Santa Teresa. Location is good, close to the main road where restaurants and shops are. Linens were clean. Breakfast was good, plenty (but also expensive).

    A lovely boutique hotel with stylish interiors and within walking distance of some great cafes. Staff were extra friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble! Would definitely recommend!
