    Lovely hotel and pub/restaurant, welcoming hosts. The room was very nice and beautifully equipped and comfortable. Location in the center of Lauder village and easy walking for a visit to Thirlestain castle.

    Beautifully appointed bedrooms and an excellent shower. Breakfast is pre- ordered the night before and is ready for you at the time of your choosing. There are excellent choices, eggs and toast, full Scottish, vegetarian and Continental with lovely mixed fresh fruit, yoghurt, juice, cereals etc. Would advise all guests to book a table for supper - you will not be disappointed! Good varied menu with Specials each day. The game pie was delightful- a rich mix of pheasant, pigeon and red deer, topped with a horseradish mash so much lighter than a rich pastry. The dessert of pecan pie with caramel sauce and pumpkin ice cream was the best I have ever tasted and as I used to live in New England I consider myself quite a connoisseur of the dish!

    The room was lovely and perfect for our weekend stay while we attended a friend's wedding. The staff were amazing! So friendly and really couldn't have been more helpful! Will definitely be back!
