We stayed in the room with private hot springs. The lady serving us was really polite even though she couldn’t speak much English. Dinner and breakfast was served to us in the room and it has unlimited hot green tea.

It was a very interesting and unique experience to stay one night in a ryokan. We had a personal host who was really nice and explained everything upon our arrival. The dinner was the highlight really. The view from the room was toward the garden and quite nice. The building itself is amazing to wander around and spend time in. All in all I would defintely recommend Kansuiro.

Beautiful old building, very attentive service, delicious dinner and breakfast (with a description provided in English so you don't have to guess what you're eating!), fantastic onsen with several baths to choose from - as they swap the male and female curtains in the morning and the outside baths are available for private use at night I was able to time my onsen trips to use every bath in the building including both open air baths. When I was there it wasn't very busy so I mostly had the baths to myself or one or two other people. Note that the male open air bath is fully outdoors whereas the female one has three walls and a roof for more privacy - this could be a pro or a con depending on your inclinations.

We loved everything during our stay! The hotel is beautiful and authentic, the staff is most helpful and friendly, there is an amazing range of Onsen baths (we were lucky the hotel didn’t seem too busy and got to experience them so many times although we were only staying the night) and the meal were really tasty. I adored our room and the view over the river. We also got to sleep on very comfy futons and had the luxury of having our own wooden indoor Onsen!

Friendly, scheduled staff dedicated to providing an authentic cultural experience in the heart of Japan. Worth a night's stay. Buy the visit to the hot stones for an additional 1200 yen -- your muscles will simply melt.
