    Es un palacio espléndido, muy cuidado en los detalles, la amabilidad y el trato exquisito del personal, la piscina con agua transparente y la visita a la fábrica de chocolate muy original.

    Lovely renovated historical ‘palace’ with many original features. Eight comfortable bedrooms, mainly in restored outbuildings. Excellent breakfasts in a beautiful setting with local produce and a daily freshly baked cake to a local or Madeira recipe. Small high quality chocolate factory onsite. Lovely swimming pool with shady mandarin trees. Plenty of sun-loungers. Wonderful attentive hosts who took a genuine interest in their guests. Very helpful with the language; with visits to the region and with recommendations for local restaurants. Provided excellent late afternoon buffet by the pool each day with local wines and fresh lemonade, and worked tirelessly to make guests feel welcome and to create that elusive ‘home from home’ atmosphere - incredible people! Whilst this isn’t an area for vegetarians - pork is the local speciality - the owners went to great lengths to provide delicious vegetarian food at the hotel and to give excellent local restaurant recommendations.

    The chocolate theme The palace building The rooms that were individually decorated. All were different The staff - 5 star treatment. They went beyound anything yiu could exoect in many ways Flexible breakfast hours. Most hotels dont even contemplate late breakfast. This one said we could have it anytime we wanted. Free drinks and snacks were privide in the evening near the pool for all guets. Excellent idea. The kids loved visiting the chocolate factory where theybened up making a chocolate bar of their own which they then got to take home. Very good restaurants nearby. Staff at hotel were very helpful in reserving lunch and dinner for us ath the restaurants of our choice.

    Delightful oasis of calm in a quiet typically Portuguese town. Beautiful and tastefully renovated with some amazing architectural features especially in the room I stayed in. Exceptional and friendly staff, thank you Monica for looking after us so well and Sandra for making us feel part of an extended family.
